Sinularia sp. This Green Finger coral was acquired in February of 1999. Note the blue sponge attached at the base. When the polyps of this coral are not externed, it is a bright green color (note the small round area above the blue sponge - the polyps are not extended there). This is a fast growing and very easy to keep coral - it tolerates low to bright light and medium to high currents. This coral is recommended for beginners. The sponge which is attached to the base rock of this coral has grown significantly. Sponges filter the water and some are quite hardy. However, they must never be exposed to air. |
