Hydnophora grandis
This Horn Coral fragment was acquired in December 2001. As you
can see, it's quite happy! I will be tracking the growth of this fragment.
Horn Corals have thicker branches than most acropora species and
will grow rapidly under the right conditions. The heavy tissue can encrust rock.
They have very powerful sweeper tentacles that can be damaging to other corals,
so they must be given space.
They enjoy intense light and good water flow.
