Trachyphyllia geoffroyi
This Red Open Brain coral was acquired in January of 1999.
Open Brain corals enjoy medium light and light to medium water flow.
They are a very hardy and fairly easy coral to keep. I have this one placed
halfway up in the tank and it expands tremendously. I occasionally feed it a piece
of fish or shrimp.
Open Brain corals have a conical base as opposed to Flat Brains. The
Red Open Brain requires less light than the Green Open Brain.
Also - note the green button polyp in the photo. This was a
hitchhiker on my live rock and remained solitary for 2 years. It has suddenly
starting multiplying and within a week, 5 buds had formed!
